Euro IV, Euro V, Euro VI and Tier 4 are emission standards which come in the form of a series of European directives. They define the limits for exhaust emissions of new vehicles sold around the world especially in USA, the EU and Australia. Emissions of NOx are regulated for most vehicle types, including cars, trucks, trains, tractors barges and similar machinery.
For each vehicle type, different standards apply. Non-compliant vehicles cannot be sold in Australia, but new standards do not apply to vehicles already on the roads. No use of specific technologies is mandated to meet the standards, though available technology is considered.
